Some years ago Dawn Meats financed its Dawn Partnership scheme and commissioned Teagasc to work with 300 of our suppliers over 5 years to ascertain what margins per ha were achievable - pioneering the use of profit monitors in the process.
Anxious to see our findings developed on a set of deliverables, we were delighted to see the BETTER Farm Programme become its successor and were happy to share in the financial support of its operations.
The lack of margin for many Irish beef farmers is of great concern and we are firmly of the belief that to do nothing further is simply not an option.
We at Dawn Meats believe in the capability of our suppliers and one year into the BETTER Farm Programme we are delighted to see the scheme provide some sound solutions to members who react rapidly and share the results of their actions with neighbours serious about their beef enterprise also.
Dawn Meats would like to take this opportunity to thank those farmers and their families for having the courage to take part, the drive to act and the generosity to share and we wish them every success, as we believe that Irish beef farming can take advantage of the inevitable growth in demand for high quality beef at a time when global production is in decline.
