Agricultural Catchments

Timoleague Catchment

Monthly Weather Data

This catchment is south of Timoleague, in Co. Cork. It is approximately 750ha in area and 85% of the land is in grass with about 5% tillage and the balance in other uses. Dairying is the predominant land use on this site and the stocking rate is among the highest in the country. It is representative of the most intensively farmed dairying areas. Only 10% of the catchment has poorly drained soils; the rest is well drained and nitrogen is the main nutrient at risk of loss from this site through leaching.
