The BEEF2026 Open Day takes place on Wednesday, 1st July at Teagasc, Grange, Dunsany, Co. Meath.
BEEF2026 is the main Teagasc Open Day for 2026 and the event theme is ‘Driving Sustainable Performance’. It will feature the latest research and innovation in beef cattle farming.
About BEEF2026
The welcome improvement in market conditions for beef has seen incomes on Irish beef cattle farms increasing considerably. The theme of BEEF2026 ‘Driving Sustainable Performance’ reflects this new opportunity to improve the productivity and profitability of beef cattle production while continuing to meet the highest standards in sustainable farming systems.
BEEF2026 will showcase the latest innovations, research, technologies and practical steps needed to secure a profitable, sustainable and resilient future for the Irish beef sector.
Generational renewal will be one of the central themes of BEEF2026. Key to this will be addressing work-life balance and improving profitability by adopting best practice in relation to grazing management, animal nutrition, beef genetics, reproductive management, animal health and farm planning.
Information boards, expert talks, live demonstrations and interactive sessions will cover all the above key topics and the latest Teagasc research and innovation in beef cattle farming will be highlighted throughout the day.

About the Photo Competition?
The ‘This is Beef Farming’ photo competition, kindly sponsored by FBD, aims to highlight the multiple things that make Irish beef farming great!
The competition has two separate categories, an adult category and a junior category (u18s).
Entries might feature the importance of family on the farm and the dedication to future generations. Or snap a photo showing farmers’ pride in their herds and commitment to raising healthy calves. Or you could share the amazing landscapes and views you get to see every day at work.

Highlights
Discussion Arena
There will be a number of panel discussions throughout the day covering key topics across a range of beef cattle production systems.
Live displays & Demonstrations
There will be live displays in relation to low emissions slurry application, grazing management and health & safety throughout the day. There will be demonstrations in relation to the use of protected urea fertilizers, calibration of spreaders and farm infrastructure. Cow simulators will be used to demonstrate the principles of safe calving and handling of livestock. Cattle from the various suckler and dairy-beef studies at Grange will be on display. There will also be displays on calf rearing and anti- microbial & anthelmintic resistance.
Industry Stakeholders and Partners
Key industry stakeholders industry will be present in the Ag-Expo Village. Additionally, industry representatives including the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine, the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation, Animal Health Ireland, Bord Bia, Meat Industry Ireland, Meat Technology Ireland and the Health & Safety Authority will be participating at the Open Day.
