Bachelor of Science in Horticulture Level 8 Honours Degree

A new - Dublin City University/Teagasc, College of Amenity Horticulture, National Botanic Gardens Honours degree will commence in autumn 2010. The excellence of DCU combined with the horticultural expertise of the National Botanic Gardens will provide a premier professional horticultural degree. The course duration is four years. This can be found on the CAO form for late application (May 1st) or for change of mind entry - code DC170.


Bachelor of Science in Horticulture - HETAC Level 7

The course aims to provide the student with a firm grounding in technical skills in the areas of plant sciences, plant identification, landscape design and construction, sport turf management, horticultural mechanisation, business, management and information technology. Work placements are included in the course.


Certificate in Horticulture FETAC Level 4

The Certificate in Horticulture Level 4 provides a one year introduction to horticultural skills and practice.


Certificate in Horticulture FETAC Level 5

The Certificate in Horticulture Level 5 is conducted over a 32 week period. Students spend part of the week (three days) at the Botanic Gardens where classwork and skills training are provided and the remainder of the week (two days) at Dublin Public Authority Parks where work skills training is provided.

The course is suitable for people who wish to make their careers in horticulture but who do not wish to complete the Third Level course.


Advanced Certificate in Horticulture FETAC Level 6

The Advanced Certificate in Horticulture Level 6 is a follow on from the FETAC Certificate in Horticulture Level 5. Students spend 33 weeks on work experience at an approved horticultural unit, and twelve weeks on college based course work.


Advanced Certificate in Greenkeeping FETAC Level 6

The Advanced Certificate in Greenkeeping Level 6 provides the standard qualification for greenkeepers in Ireland. The course aims to provide the skill, knowledge and competency required for responsible positions on golf courses. The course is designed for people who are already working as trainee or assistant greenkeepers on golf courses. The course is conducted on a block release basis over a two-year period.


Advanced Certificate in Golf Course Management FETAC Level 6

The Advanced Certificate in Golf Course Management Level 6 provides skills for golf course superintendents and head greenkeepers who manage or are in senior positions on golf courses.


Certificate in Floristry FETAC Level 5

The Certificate in Floristry Level 5 provides the knowledge and skills to operate a floristry business.
