Research Interests: Food safety microbiology, epidemiology, virulence, risk assessment, risk management/HACCP, antibiotic resistance, molecular characterisation, survival and control of verocytotoxigenic Escherichia coli (VTEC including E. coli O157), Campylobacter, Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes and Yersinia enterocolitica in a range of foods/environments, farm to fork.

Equipment / Technologies: The full range of microbiological cultural/detection techniques, PFGE, MLST, flaA-SVR typing, PCR, RT-PCR, bioinformatics, while developing a microarray capability.
Current Role / Title: Principal Research Officer
Education: A first class honours B.Sc. degree and a Ph.D. (Microbiology) from University College Dublin as well as a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (NCEA).
