Teagasc Board Meeting Postponed
1 February 2006
The scheduled meeting of the Teagasc Authority due to be held in Oak Park tomorrow, February 1, 2006, has been postponed.
The Chairman of Teagasc Dr. Tom O' Dwyer decided to postpone the meeting to allow proper legal procedure to be followed with regard to a motion of no confidence in Teagasc Director Jim Flanagan.
The motion signed by two members of the authority was tabled last Friday.
The chairman Dr. O' Dwyer said that Mr. Flanagan as an employee of Teagasc is entitled to the benefit and protections afforded by his contract of employment, the law and the rules of natural justice. Clearly it would not be possible that this could be afforded to the Director if the motion was to proceed tomorrow.
The authority meeting will be reconvened at a later date allowing the proposers to state their case and the Teagasc Director an opportunity to respond.
