Preparations Advancing for Teagasc Farmfest
10 June 2008
Exhibition space at the Teagasc Farmfest 08 event is now fully booked out. Over 400 commercial companies and artisan food producers have already secured their space at this major Teagasc event which takes place in Athenry, County Galway on Friday, 20 June.
In addition, hundreds of livestock exhibitors will also be displaying their animals. The largest sheep exhibition in over ten years is planned for June 20 in Athenry, with the main sheep breeds holding their annual championships.
Michael Diskin, Teagasc Athenry said: "We have been overwhelmed with the response from companies and organisations to participate in Farmfest 08, and unfortunately we are unable to accommodate any more exhibitors. It is really shaping up to be one of the main events of the summer of 2008, with a nice balance between core commercial farming exhibits and an interesting mix of new and innovative alternative products and food businesses. There will certainly be something for everyone in Athenry on June 20."
With oil reaching record levels, plenty of interest is anticipated in the Bioenergy '08 event taking place as part Farmfest '08. Paul Dykes of SEI said: "This event, now in its second year, will give the visitor a look at all stages in the supply chain, from the farmer growing energy crops, through the wood chip and wood processing options, to the heat and energy solutions available to consumers today in Ireland. We are delighted to be working with our partners Teagasc and COFORD on this initiative."
Farmfest '08 is supported by the FBD Trust and reviewing preparations for the event, Conor Gouldson, FBD Trust company secretary said: "FBD is very pleased to sponsor Teagasc's Farmfest '08 event and to continue our long association with Teagasc in the promotion of events such as this."
