22 December 2008
Moorepark Dairy Production Research Centre will host their annual mini open day in January 2009. This year’s event entitled ‘Components of dairy herd expansion: heifer rearing and herd health’ will be held over two days on Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 and 7 January.
Research and advisory staff with present up-to-date information relating to three key topics in the dairy industry: 1) calf/heifer rearing – outline of new Moorepark blueprint; 2) infectious disease control – with particular emphasis on BVD and IBR; and 3) milk quality issues – principally beating mastitis.
The event has proven to be very successful over the past number of years and is seen as an ideal platform to present up-to-date knowledge and recommendations on a number of critical issues relevant to dairy farmers.
To accommodate the large attendance, the open day will take place over two days with indoor and outdoor sessions running concurrently. Tuesday, 6 January is reserved for discussion group members participating in the EBI competition, while Wednesday, 7 January is for all other dairy farmers. Visitors are encouraged to attend at 10.15am.
