Teagasc Services for Organic Farmers

Teagasc provides training, advice and research for those involved in organic production, those considering converting to organic farming and the wider organic sector.  Teagasc, in recent years has devoted additional resources in the form of personnel, land and time to provide the backup needed by the sector.  Access to cutting edge research, advice and training is essential if organic farmers are to provide products efficiently and to a high standard.
 

Training Advice Demonstration Farms
Six training courses have been developed in consultation with the organic organisations and have been accepted for FETAC certification.

Each Area Unit has advisers trained in the basic principles of organic farming. These advisers are available for consultation by anyone interested in organic farming and are backed up by specialised advisory, training and research staff.  

Organic Specialist advisers are located at Grange and at Mellows Development Centre.

Teagasc deliver demonstrations annually on 21 demonstration farms strategically located throughout the country.


The demonstration farms are run in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Food. Details of demonstration dates for 2012 will be available shortly.
