Accommodation Quality & Standards
Maintaining high standards is an essential aspect of any successful product. Fáilte Ireland is the body responsible for ensuring that accommodation standards meet visitor needs.
It sets the requirements for the various categories of accommodation and
regularly monitors the standards in all approved accommodation. It
sub-contracts its accommodation registration assessment and classification
functions covering hotels, guesthouses and other categories of registered
accommodation. Fáilte Ireland sets the policy and framework under which the
sub-contractors operate and award the
shamrock symbol.
Registered accommodation is covered by legislation (Tourism and Traffic Act) whereas approved accommodation is not.
