Assessing the Clover Content on your Farm - Michael Egan

The beginning of April is the ideal opportunity to assess the level of clover content on your farm. This will aid in making two decisions, key decisions, in the coming months.
1) the level of optimum level of nitrogen fertilizer's application to tailor across your farm and individual paddocks And
2) to assess any paddocks that may need to be reseeded or over sowing to increase the level of clover content on those individual paddocks.

Spray Safe Pesticide Awareness Campaign by Cork County Council

The campaign is focused on occasional users of pesticides, such as householders, gardeners and small-scale farmers. A key message of the campaign is that users should always assess in the first instance if they need to use a pesticide at all. The link between protecting water quality and protecting biodiversity is also stressed.

Shinagh Dairy Farm

Shinagh Dairy Farm was set up in 2011 as part of a joint programme between Teagasc and Carbery Co-Op. The farm is located just outside of Bandon town in West Cork. The aim of this joint programme is to demonstrate the design, set up and operation of a large scale dairy unit on a grass based system and to provide information on the profitability and sustainability of this type of farming system.
