Virtual College Open Days
Teagasc held a series of virtual events for prospective applicants to its full-time Level 5 agriculture, horticulture, equine and forestry courses.
The events focused on each college in the overall Teagasc network. Staff provided presentations on their college and courses interspersed with video footage of college educational facilities and farm enterprises.

Virtual Beef Week 2020
The Teagasc Virtual Beef Week, sponsored by FBD Trust, from Monday 6th to Friday 10th July with the main broadcasts coming from Teagasc Grange. The theme of the event was ‘Building a Sustainable Beef Sector’. Each day there was a Beef Talk webinar at 12 midday hosted by the Irish Farmers Journal and in the evening at 7 pm, Live@Grange which was streamed live by AgriLand. There was also a continuous stream of content throughout each day on the Teagasc website and through the Teagasc social media platforms. Virtual Sheep Week 2020
Teagasc is hosting a Virtual Sheep Week from 21 – 25 September to provide all the latest research and advice available to sheep producers around Ireland. Full details of what is happening each day are available at www.teagasc.ie/virtualsheepweek. Daily updates showcasing the on-going research and advisory work in the areas of grassland, genetic improvement, flock health, hill sheep, as well as information on environmental and policy issues will be provided on multiple online platforms.Each evening from 7.00pm-8.00pm, there will be a live webinar - Live@Athenry - focusing on the topic of the day. In addition to the one hour Live@Athenry online event each evening, there will be regular updates throughout each day on Teagasc Social Media channels. Follow the week’s activities with #VirtualSheepWeek on Teagasc social media channels – Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and Instagram to see the research outputs and get the latest advice from the Teagasc sheep programme in Athenry. This Virtual Sheep Week is highly relevant to all sheep producers.
Virtual Pig Week 2020
The latest research and the best technical advice and information for pig producers will be broadcast live from Teagasc Moorepark at 1.30 pm each day from Tuesday 20 October until Friday, 23 October. The ‘Virtual Pig Week’ is being organised by the Teagasc Pig Development Department.
Each day will feature an interactive online event from 1.30–2.30 pm focusing on a range of topics in pig production; from key husbandry practices, to a webinar on the role of feed ingredients in disease transmission, a visit to a progressive pig farm and virtual tour of the Teagasc Moorepark Pig Research Facility.
Speaking in advance of the Virtual Pig Week’, Edgar Manzanilla, Head of Teagasc Pig Development Department said: ”A variety of contributors will share their expertise and experience including Teagasc farm staff and researchers along with pig producers and international experts. I would encourage all pig producers and those involved in the sector to tune in each day at lunchtime for the latest and most up to date research and advice.”
