Orla O’Sullivan

Teagasc Food Research Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy, Co. Cork, Ireland P61 C996

Our research focuses on elucidating the microbiome from various environments including human gut and lung, rumen and food. Of particular interest is the role of exercise and diet, specifically whey protein, on the human gut microbiome both in healthy and diseased cohorts. We have an on-site DNA sequencing facility and access to high performance clusters to assist in our analysis.

Research area of interest for MSCA IF application: Multi-omic investigations into the role of exercise and diet on the gut microbiome.

Orla has supervised 3 PhD students and 6 MSc students to date. She currently has 1 post-doc under her direct supervision and is a mentor to numerous postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows, which involves constant training of microbiome and genomic research.
