Covid-19

The coronavirus pandemic is causing serious disruption in the agriculture and food sector across Ireland. Teagasc has put systems in place to protect clients and staff, while continuing to provide support and essential services. 

Delivery of Teagasc Services to Clients

Teagasc advisory offices, colleges and research centres (apart from essential staff) are closed. Most Teagasc staff are working from home and available on the phone. If you wish to make a BPS apppointment please contact your advisor. Contact details available here

The transfer of information and knowledge to farmers and students will be through regular digital communication methods. 

Telephone helpline for farmers

Teagasc have put in place a dedicated helpline for farmers to get advice on the range of issues that they may face as they continue to do their essential work in maintaining the food supply chain. This helpline is open to all farmers for a range of farming issues they face  day to day. 

The information line phone number is +353 76 1113533 and will be open from 9.30am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Teagasc publish analysis of farm income impacts of COVID-19

A new report by Teagasc economists explores the possible impact of COVID-19 on farm incomes in Ireland this year. Analysis of a range of scenarios finds that income in 2020 across the sector as a whole will drop relative to the income forecast for 2020 in the absence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Farming Resilience

Mental Health Ireland along with Teagasc and the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) have partnered to co-host and co-deliver information and resources to you through a special Farming Resilience page during the month of April. The aim is to support farmers and their families through the challenges being posed by Covid-19. Check out practical evidence-based ways to support personal and business resilience here
