Agriculture & Food: A Challenge for All
Agriculture and food have in recent years become the focus of government and public concern around the world. Policymakers, the media and the general public are now more aware than ever of the enormous challenges facing the industry.
From adapting to the impacts of climate change, to feeding an expanding global population with dwindling resources, there is no doubt that major change is needed in the global food system, right through from how we produce our food on farms to the final consumption of food by ever-more demanding global consumers.
Addressing these challenges will require new approaches and new technologies. This lecture series aims to present new developments in science and technology with potential application to agriculture and to stimulate debate on the costs and benefits in an Irish and EU context.
Lectures will be presented by outstanding international scientists and policy makers, and will contribute to increasing awareness of the challenges facing future food production and the new approaches being developed to solve these challenges.
