Project Title: Strategies to improve the microbial quality of liquid feed and optimise growth of liquid-fed grow-finisher pigs
Overview: This project focuses on optimising liquid feeding practices for grow-finisher pigs. We are looking at fermentations, feed form and delivery methods, acid inclusion in liquid pig diets and water-to-feed ratios. I’m passionate about producing pigs efficiently and am interested in the economics of pig production. I worked on a commercial pig unit for two years and would love to work with farmers in the future, either in a nutritionist or advisory capacity. I hope to submit my thesis in October 2019. When I’m not studying, I really enjoy three day eventing (equine discipline) and have been fortunate enough to travel to some of the most wonderful events in the world looking after horses for Team Ireland. We also run one-day events at home just outside Mallow.
