Project Title: Dairy Industry Competitiveness: An International Statistical and Econometric Approach
Overview: Whilst measures of the competitiveness performance of the Irish dairy sector at farm level have been computed for decades now. A critical question remains: How does the Irish dairy industry compare with other countries, in terms of farm level profits, industry market share and export performance? Consequently, the aim of this project is to use micro data and trade data to address this broad question.
As an Agri-Food Economist, my vision is to help build and develop inclusive and sustainable agricultural industries around the world. To that regard, I have experience of working with government (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development), research institutions (University of KwaZulu-Natal in partnership with Water Research Commission), private sector (South African Cane Growers Association) and international organisations [German Development Cooperation (GIZ) in collaboration with African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD)].
