Teagasc-Fulbright Irish Student Award

The Fulbright Commission’s annual Awards Programme enables students and scholars to undertake study, research or lecturing at a recognised college or institution in the United States. The Fulbright Programme has been widely recognised, since its inception in 1957, as the premier USA/world scientific and educational exchange programme.

In 2003, the Teagasc Authority approved a proposal that Teagasc would enter an alliance with the Irish Fulbright Foundation for a three-year period involving the annual award of two Walsh Scholarships as joint Fulbright-Teagasc scholarships for postgraduate study/research in the United States. In 2006, the Authority agreed to continue the funding on an on-going basis.

The Fulbright Commission and Teagasc are offering this Award for an Irish postgraduate student to travel to the US to study or research in the fields of agriculture, food, forestry and environment.
