Project Title: Investigation of the Utilisation and Working Properties of Small Diameter Irish Grown Alder (Alnus glutinosa)
Overview: My research looks to investigate the working properties and potential utilisation of 2nd thinnings of alder logs (20-30cm diameter) and looks to reveal new ways to add value to this underutilised and undervalued resource.
This are of research is very interesting to me due to my interest in Irish hardwoods and from my background in furniture design and manufacture.
In my free time I enjoy playing and watch a variety of different sports and I am regularly involved in music events. I am very open about my future career, but I would love to become a lecturer if the opportunity was available.
