Project Title: Production decision, market participation and household nutrition nexus among rural small holders in Ethiopa
Overview: My name is Tsegay Balcha, a lecturer in Mekelle University, Tigray, Ethiopa. I have a BA and M.Sc. in Economics. I have been involved in different research programmes in my country, but I have always been interested in topics related to rural smallholder households' agricultural activities and the challenges associated with it. As an extension to my long-time dream, I am now planning to do my PhD dissertation on the same area. My research project mainly aspires to find responses to the drivers of the Ethiopian small-scale farmer's crop choices, their level of market participation and the impact of those decisions on their household nutrition. Using quantitative and qualitative techniques, this research will examine the conditions of the households, the market and the agricultural value chains. Findings from this research are expected to make valuable contributions to the existing knowledge on the topic.
