Science Week 2023
Science Week @Teagasc is an educational, inspiring and fun week, packed full of amazing science activities for children and grown-ups alike.
Whether you are interested in science or not, we hope to inspire, encourage and challenge people of all ages and backgrounds to explore and understand the world around them.
Teagasc research centres around Ireland are opening their doors to students from primary and secondary level to highlight the work that takes place in agriculture and food research.
Have you ever wondered what a career in science is like? Students will get the chance to freely ask questions and find out what it is like to work in science. There will be many hands-on experimental activities.
At the National Botanic gardens (Teagasc College of Amenity Horticulture), find out all about future career prospects and placement opportunities for students in the wonderful world of horticulture.
The ‘Trails and Tales’ forestry walks will show you the benefits of forestry - from carbon sequestration to biodiversity. Not to mention the benefits to our wellbeing.
Our scientists at Teagasc Crops Research Centre in Carlow have developed a fun and educational experimental pack for primary schools.
This Science Week, see Teagasc tree researchers on RTÉ One’s science series ‘10 Things to Know About …’. Watch Dheeraj Rathore and Oliver Sheridan in an episode on ‘Trees’.
These events are brought to you by Teagasc (Agriculture and Food Development Authority). All of our events are free but must be pre-booked. See the individual event listing for details on how to book.
For public events, an adult must complete the registration and an adult must accompany all children at events. The relevant teacher must book schools events.
