Anastasios Chatzichristou

Project Title: Investigating the sustainable integration of livestock and cropping systems for greenhouse gas mitigation and circularity

Overview: Tasos is a PhD student in the field of Agricultural Economics applying the methodology of Life Cycle Assessment.

He is specializing on exploring the economic and environmental advantages of farming systems integration (e.g., combining together dairy, beef, and crop production), and their contribution to circularity, such as, farm practices (chemical element recycling), waste management (naturally produced fertilizer), and crop production (home-grown feedstuffs).

As a result, he is involved in a research programme that touches sensitive cords of modern agricultural problems, for example, farming emissions reduction, production cost aversion, and the establishment of a “Gold Standard Methodology” for future Irish farming systems.

Tasos’ academic background on Agriculture (Bachelor’s degree), and Agricultural Economics and Development (Master’s Degree) are an attestment to his research experience in the field. His command of statistical and programming software (e.g., SPSS, R) provide useful tools towards carving out fruitful and meaningful results. Finally, his affiliation and training with Economic and Environmental Life Cycle Assessment models in this PhD project, is another ornament for his future academic career.

Tasos is from the city of Thessaloniki in the northern part of Greece and his main extra-curricular interests involve traveling, physical exercise, and book reading (historical novels and classics).
