Anne Biggins
Project Title: INZAC II: The integration of New Zealand genetics into the Irish national flock
Overview: Anne is investigating the integration of New Zealand genetics through crossbreeding elite New Zealand animals with elite Irish animals and investigating their performance potential across a range of both maternal and terminal traits within the INZAC flock in Teagasc Athenry.
She will be assessing progeny performance from birth until slaughter, mothering capabilities, ewe efficiency, meat quality and methane emissions across the flock.
Anne is from a sheep and suckler farm in County Mayo. Where she developed a keen interest in agriculture from a young age. Her main interest is within the sheep industry with particular focus on animal genetics and performance. Anne completed her undergraduate degree in South East Technological University Waterford where she studied in Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Agricultural Science
