Project Title: Potential of breeding programs to improve nitrogen utilization in grazing dairy cows
Overview: I am an AgroParisTech graduate from a French school of agriculture. Interested in farm production and its effect on the environment, my PhD aim is to find a way to breed cows with lower nitrogen excretion. The first step of my PhD was to estimate the nitrogen excretion of Irish cattle. Then, it is to see if it is possible to breed cows to better use the nitrogen they eat and to decrease how much nitrogen they release into the environment.
