HeadshotProject Title: Implementation and evaluation of a behaviour change intervention to reduce antimicrobial use on farms

Overview: Antimicrobial resistance is a global threat to the health of humans, animals and the environment. In response to this threat, the European Commission aims to reduce the sales of antimicrobials by 50% in the livestock farming and aquaculture sectors. As agricultural antimicrobial use (AMU) is a habitual behaviour, Laura, working as part of the AMU-FARM project team, aims to train farm advisors and vets in the use of behaviour change techniques and motivational interviewing, to facilitate collaborative conversations about on-farm AMU behaviours and support behavioural change.

Prior to the AMU-FARM project, Laura completed an undergraduate Midwifery degree (UCD) and an integrated undergraduate/postgraduate Masters with Professional Studies in Food Safety and Food Security (Queen’s University Belfast). She has a sheep farming background and has a keen interest in the area of supporting behaviour change.
