Nikhil Pratap Singh

HeadshotProject Title: Resilience, adaptive capacity and vulnerability to climate change on Irish farms: Implications for farm sustainability and mitigation capacity.

Overview: Nikhil is an agri-environmental economist with experience in agribusiness and health economics. His research interests lie in farm sustainability and environmental impact, and food security. He is currently pursuing a PhD at University College Cork (UCC) under the supervision of Dr. Tracy Bradfield, Dr. Lorraine Balaine, and Prof. Thia Hennessy on climate change resilience and adaptation in Irish agriculture. The project aims at assessing the ability of Irish farms to adopt and transform against the challenges due to climate change using the Teagasc National Farm Survey data. Before starting the PhD, he worked as a Research Officer at the University of Reading, contributing to project on food security. His academic journey includes a second master’s in agricultural and food economics from the University of Reading and a master’s in agribusiness management from ICAR- NAARM, along with a postgraduate certificate in agricultural policy from IGNOU and a graduate degree in agriculture from GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology in India. With prior teaching and research experience in India, he has worked extensively on agricultural value chains and production economics. He has a strong analytical background and enjoys working with large datasets, applying econometric techniques to address pressing issues in agriculture and sustainability.
