Project Title: Explaining Income Volatility and Risk Management Decisions in Irish Dairy Farming
Overview: Shefali’s research will focus on income volatility in Irish dairy farming, the adoption of risk management tools and their relationship with investments in the Irish Dairy Sector. The research is undertaken to identify the factors influencing the adoption of fixed milk price contracts and their duration and to analyse the impact of risk management tool adoption on farm investment. This research will be the first to explore the impact of risk management tool adoption on farm investment while taking into account the possible role of endogeneity.
Shefali is an alumnus of University of Greenwich, London, UK (MSc Business and Financial Economics, 2015) and Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (M.A in Agri-Business Economics, 2014. She has participated in national and international level research conferences to present her academic papers. Shefali was twice awarded the Dr. Mauritz Bonow Young Researcher Award in the category of young researchers for the research papers presented at the conferences held by International Co-operative Alliance – Asia Pacific (ICA-AP.) in 2016 and 2018. Shefali has worked as a Research Associate, Project consultant and Research Officer at various Government institutions in India and her work mainly involved research in the field of Economics and Co-operatives using data analytics, econometric techniques and academic writing.
She is originally from India. Her hobbies apart from her academic work involves travelling, reading and dancing. Her major areas of interests are Rural and Developmental Economics. In future, she sees herself working as an academician as well as wants to work in public sector domain.
