Project Title: Developing risk-based approaches to modelling phosphorus contamination in agricultural catchments

Overview: I have always been passionate about the environment, which is why I completed my studies in Agricultural and Environmental Science with a focus in Hydrology for my Master’s Degree. Currently, I am undertaking a four year post graduate course in Environmental Science at the University of Reading. My research at Teagasc focuses on the use of Bayesian Belief Networks to model Phosphorus pollution and water quality in four catchments of the Agricultural Catchments Programme. With this modelling approach we hope to inform stakeholders and policy makers in building water quality mitigation strategies in high risk areas. In the future I hope to keep on working on the protection of the environment, specifically on water quality.

Programme Area: Crops, Environment and Land-Use Programme

Supervisors: Per-Erik Mellander

Funding Source: Agricultural Catchments Programme
