- 23 maiden heifers was also bred at the start of the breeding season
- 19 heifers scan in-calf ( 83% in-calf)
- Overall the scanning results are a bit back on previous years , but one must bear in mind the very cold and wet months during the early spring and summer which did not help matters regarding the breeding season
- All the 2024-born progeny have now been weaned , weaning took place during the fine weather in mid-September
- The average weaning date for all the weaning’s was the 13th September
- The male weanlings (44) were weaned at 289 kg equating to an average daily gain(ADG) of 20 kg from birth to weaning
- The heifer weanlings weaned at 282 kg and record an ADG of 20 kg from birth to weaning
- The harsh spring and wet summer once again had a knock on effect on the weaning’s thrive as they are roughly 20 Kgs behind on previous years , so it will be a priority they get good quality silage during the winter months
- At the moment all the weaned weanlings are receiving 1.5 Kg of concentrates at grass
