Vaccination under BEEP-S
- In this task there are two options, you must choose one.
- Within each option there are two parts, you must complete both parts.
- The second part in both is an IBR vaccination, Live and Intramuscular.
- The first option is a one shot programme. The second option is a two shot program.
- You must record the vaccinations in your medical records and have it available for inspection.
Option 1
(Short time before a risk period or if cattle can only be handled once)
This option has two parts:
Part 1 Must:
- Cover RSV Pi3
- Be Intranasal
- Be a Live Vaccine
- Be given 2 to 4 weeks before weaning/housing/sale
- Note: this is an intranasal injection
AND
Part 2 Must:
- Cover IBR
- Be Intra-muscular
- Be a Live Vaccine
- Be given 2 to 4 weeks before weaning/housing/sale
Option 2:
More time before risk period, or broader coverage required. Has 2 parts
Part 1 Must:
- Cover - RSV Pi3 and Mannhaemia Haemolytica
- Be a 2 shot programme
- Shot 1: 6-8 weeks before weaning/housing/sale
- Shot 2 2-4 weeks before weaning/housing/sale
- Be given Subcutaneous Injection
- Be a Dead Vaccine
AND
Part 2 Must:
- Cover IBR
- Be Intra-muscular
- Be a Live Vaccine
- Be given at the same time as second injection of Bovipast RSP - 2 to 4 weeks before weaning/housing/sale
Special Precautions:
Do not use IBR vaccines in breeding bulls destined for AI centres.
If IBR control is necessary on a pedigree farm, vaccinate cohorts with an inactivated vaccine subcutaneously – if a live vaccine is used it must be given intra-muscular
