Irvine Allen
Irvine purchased his first batch of dairy calves in 2012. He now runs a 20 - 24 month Aberdeen Angus/Hereford heifer and steer beef system. He is from Moate, Co Westmeath and farms 58ha. Jarleth Ruane
Jarleth from Corbally, Claremorris, Co. Mayo currently farms 25ha with his father Austin. They both work full time off farm and currently run a 20 - 24 month steer system. JP Hammersley
Farming in Lattin, Co. Tipperary, JP Hammersley runs a system where British Friesian bull calves are brought to beef as steers at 26-30 months. Martin Connolly
Martin is from Milltown, Castleplunket, Co. Roscommon. he has been rearing dairy bred calves bringing them to beef for as long as he can remember. He runs a 21 - 22 month Friesian bull beef system on 60ha with 22ha being owned and 38ha leased. There is the home block and five outer blocks, however they are all within 2 miles of each other. Pat Collins
Located just outside Castlemartyr, Co. Cork, Pat Collins operates a mixed farming system, consisting of 28ha of leased grassland and a 36ha tillage enterprise. Peter Byrne
Peter is farming 70ha of dry land on the Kildare/Carlow border. His current system is 19 - 24 month heifer and steer beef. He is involved in a local farmers market selling his own beef and lamb. Aidan Maguire
Aidan is currently farming 46ha of grassland and 14ha of forestry outside Navan, Co. Meath. The farm is in two blocks with 40ha owned and 20ha leased. Previous to rearing dairy calves, Aidan operated a tillage enterprise along with keeping a group of suckler cows. Almost 20 years ago he decided to cut back on cow numbers, quit the tillage and start to operate a dairy calf to beef enterprise. Richard Long
Richard Long farms 57ha in Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford, where he brings early maturing and continental calves out of the dairy herd to beef as steers and heifers at 20-24 months.
