BETTER Farm Beef Programme
Phase 2 of the Teagasc Irish farmers Journal BETTER Farm Beef Programme concluded in early 2016. The second phase of the programme aimed to develop a road map for profitable beef production through improving technical efficiency within the farm gate. Farmers participating in Phase 2 of the BETTER Farm Programme had their gross margins increase by 53% since joining the programme in 2012. Taking into account the fact that beef prices increased by 8% from 2012, the changes in input costs over the same period, it is calculated that 83% of gross margin improvement is from technical efficiency.
Full details on the programme are available in the end of phase 2 Programme Report.
