Farming system: Suckler to finish/ Store, Bulls slaughtered under 16 months, surplus heifers sold as replacements

Farm Plan: To achieve a gross margin of €1000/ha. Ger will aim to increase the herd to 55 cows all spring calving using 100% AI, slaughtering bulls at 14 -16 months and selling surplus heifers for breeding. All cows and heifers bred to maternal 5 star sires. Ger will adopt better grassland management practices to achieve more weight gain from grass. Extra paddocks will be installed, creep grazing practised and grass measured weekly.
