Farm Size: 58 ha, 5ha of which is owned and 53ha leased.

Farming system: Marty is operating a suckler to weanling livestock system. The herd comprises of 88 continental cows, 44 cows are Autumn calving and 44 cows are Spring calving. The autumn weanling bulls are sold in August and spring born bulls are sold in December. Replacement heifers are bred from within the herd. Marty also has a round bale silage contracting business.

Farm Plan: Marty's main focuses are increased output and improved breeding with more AI usage. Grass utilisation is further increased through a paddock system with calves’ creep grazing ahead of the cows. Maximising calf liveweight gain from milk and grass in the diet will be key to maximise the gross margin on the farm in the future.
