Green Acres Calf to Beef Programme Phase 2

The second phase of the Teagasc Green Acres Calf to Beef Programme was launched in April 2019. 14 demonstration farmers located around the country will participate. The primary aim of the programme is to achieve a net margin of €500/ha (excluding premia).

  • Animal Health
  • Grassland Management
  • Soil Fertility
  • Financial Management
  • Farm Planning

Programme Objectives

  • To advise and demonstrate best practice at farm level on the rearing, growing and finishing of purchased dairy bred calves through to beef (steers/heifers/bulls) on a whole farm basis.
  • To provide technical support and targeted training to technical staff of the contributing stakeholders to the programme
  • To disseminate physical and financial progress/results from the programme through a wide range of communication strategies.
