Physiology of Reproduction, Growth and Lactation

The objective of this sub-programme is to undertake research focusing on gaining a better understanding of the partitioning of nutrients into milk and identifying key genetic, endocrine and metabolic differences between biologically efficient and inefficient animals.

Potential Impact Indicators:

Improved reproductive performance of dairy cows.

  • Increased usage of AI in dairy cow herds.
  • Enhanced ability to control lactation persistency by nutrition /management.
  • Enhanced ability to increase content of desirable bioactive compounds in milk.
