- Tom and his son, David are farming 106Ha near Portarlington, Co.Laois, of which 10Ha is rented.
- The plan is to milk 220 cows and rear 60 replacement units
- The calving interval is 375 days with a six week calving rate of 84%.
Overview of the farm
This video gives an overview of the farm & changes made over the years. They are currently milking 180 cows & stocking rate is 2.45 LU/Ha. They joined the Programme, as they want to improve farm sustainability - both economically & environmentally. Water usage & energy usage will also be monitored.
