Profile
John Casey is a Forestry Development Officer with Teagasc since 2001, with a broad technical knowledge of the Irish forest industry built over almost 30 years, both in the public and private sectors. Having completed a certificate in agroforestry in Teagasc Ballyhaise College in 1989, he graduated from University College Dublin in 1995, with a Bachelor of Agriculture Science (Forestry) degree.
John has a specific interest in forestry-related financial analysis, completing a Higher Diploma in Business Studies with Waterford Institute of Technology (2008). He successfully completed a Diploma in Leadership Development Level 9 from University College Cork/Irish Management Institute in 2014. John also holds a post of responsibility within the Teagasc Forestry Development Department with regard to forest protection issues.
He has an on-going interest in wildfire prevention and controlled burning, and he completed a basic course in technical fire management with the Pau Costa Foundation, Spain in 2015. He holds a Deer Stalking Certificate 1 qualification from the British Deer Society (2009) and he successfully completed the Irish Hunter Competence Assessment Programme (HCAP) with the Deer Alliance in 2019.
