Research Officer - Grassland Science

Research Interests

I am Principal Research Officer and project leader with responsibility for the development and implementation of grassland science multi-year farm systems research projects at Curtins Farm, Teagasc Moorepark, Fermoy, Co. Cork and Ballyhaise Agricultural College, Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan.

Current Projects

  • The Multi-milk Research Project is evaluating the performance of perennial ryegrass, perennial ryegrass white clover and multispecies swards on the productivity and economic and environmental sustainability of spring calving pasture-based dairy systems.
  • The Everycalf Project is evaluating the potential for profitable dairy calf to beef systems in collaboration with commercial rearing farmers in the Border Midlands and Western region of Ireland.
  • The DairyF2F Project is evaluating the transition to lower chemical Nitrogen dairy systems in the Border Midlands Western Region of Ireland.
