Research Officer

Research Interests

My research programme focuses on the development of sustainable disease control strategies for Irish arable and potato crops.  To achieve these goals, we incorporate detailed fungal population studies with applied field trialling. Currently Zymoseptoria tritici on wheat, Rhynchosporium commune, Ramularia collo-cygni, Pyrenophora teres on barley and Phytophthora infestans on potatoes are the key pathogens investigated in our lab.

Current Projects

  • Monitoring pathogen evolution for sustainable cropping (MonPESC) – DAFM RSF funding 2013-2018
  • Controlling septoria tritici blotch through crop management (CoSTM) – DAFM RSF funding 2014 - 2019
  • Establishing a platform of IPM in Irish crops (EPIC) – DAFM RSF funding 2015-2019
  • EUROWHEAT: Fungicide Resistance Network (EURO-RES) C-IPM ERA-NET 2017-2020
  • Disease control in field crops – Teagasc funding 2016-2019
  • Arable Pathogen Populations – Teagasc funding 2017-2020
