Profile

Frances McHugh received a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Forestry), UCD and then a M.Agr.Sc (For) on ‘Value maximisation of forest stands through optimal inventory and crosscutting methodologies’.

She completed a Diploma in Leadership Development, IMI Dublin and is a Technical Member of the Society of Irish Foresters.

Frances worked with COFORD (Council of Forest Research and Development) and also in forest inventory. She subsequently worked as Project Director of the Tree Register of Ireland with the Tree Council of Ireland.

She is currently working as a Forestry Development Officer in the southeast, covering counties Wicklow, Wexford, Carlow and Dublin and is a member of the COFORD Wood Mobilisation and Forecasting Group.

She has a particular interest in ensuring that landowners can make an informed decision when considering farm forestry and how forestry fits into the farm to meet specific objectives. She contributes and posts on Teagasc Forestry social media (Facebook, Instagram).
