BEEP- S - Beef Environmental Efficiency Programme for Sucklers

  • BEEP-S - Weighing

    Weighing is the first compulsory measure under the BEEP environmental efficiency programme for sucklers. The objective of this measure is to target the weaning efficiency of the suckler cows and their calves through the collection of liveweights of cows and their progeny #VirtualBeefWeek

  • BEEP-S - Meal Feeding

    Meal Feed is one of the voluntary measures under action 2 of the BEEP environmental efficiency programme for sucklers. The objective of this measure is to introduce calves to meal feeding for 4 weeks pre weaning and 2 weeks post weaning. The aim is to reduce the stress of weaning on the calf

  • BEEP-S - Vaccination

    Vaccination is one of the voluntary measures under action 2 of the BEEP- S The objective of this measure is for farmers to implement a vaccination programme against respiratory disease in suckler calves & to record the details of vaccinations. Longer term vaccinations leads to lower antibiotic use

  • BEEP-S - Faecal Sampling

    Under action 3 of BEEP-s you may have selected the optional measure of faecal egg testing for liver and rumen fluke in suckler cows. The aim of this task is to have a more targeted use of anthelmintics when treating suckler cows for liver or rumen fluke #VirtualBeefWeek
