Kevin is farming over 445 hectares in the heart of Carlow. Kevin’s farm a mix of owned and rented land. Soils on the farm range from generally medium to heavy. The farm practices a rotation where possible, where the main break crop was winter oilseed rape but was switched to spring beans in the past couple of years due to improved economic returns from beans

Farm Description:
Kevin varies his establishment practices from plough, till and sow to, more recently, strip-till establishment. Strip till is used only when conditions are correct.
Kevin won the Zurich “Farming Independent” Farmer of the Year 2014 and is always keen to implement new technologies and ideas on the farm. The following are some of the activities Kevin is involved in; promoting the “Nolan Farming” brand through prominent signage and the use of social media (facebook, twitter), etc., Share Farming and Shared Machinery ownership, Hybrid seed barley and other seed crops, and most machinery run precision farming technologies.
Kevin looks at every aspect of the business and is constantly looking for additional income streams to develop his business further.
