OatFrontiers
Adapting oats to final Frontier
OatFrontiers Newsletter 1 Ireland. (pdf)
OatFrontiers is an Interreg Northern Periphery Area (NPA) programme project, which aims to improve oat growing opportunities in the NPA area between 2024 and 2026. OatFrontiers is coordinated by Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).
Our project team consists of plant breeders, research organisations and companies from the agricultural sector operating in the region.
The project will pilot plant breeding material in a number of trial sites in the Nordic countries and Ireland with the aim of identifying oat varieties suitable for the region and creating tools for plant breeders to develop them. We will also organise field trips, excursions and workshops for local actors to share knowledge about oat growing and to create new collaborations around oat growing that will promote the oat sector.
The total budget of the project is €1, 681 051,34, of which €1 027 267,02 is financed by the European Regional Development Fund."
