Forestry Safety Seminar
A brand new range of ten forestry safety guidance leaflets were launched at the HSA's 2018 Forestry Safety Seminar in Athenry, Co Galway, covering the following topics:

- Chainsaw Snedding
- Chainsaw Cross Cutting and Manual Stacking
- Chainsaw Clearance of Windblow
- Chainsaw Felling of Large Trees
- Extraction by Forwarder
- Mechanical Harvesting
- Electricity at Work: Forestry
- Guidance for Forestry Work Manager in Selecting and Monitoring Contractors

The seminar focused on the safe use of chainsaws, harvesting, electricity, forestry contractors and the new Forestry Knowledge Transfer Group Scheme. Attendees gained an insight and understanding of safe practices for tree felling including windblow, the role of the Forestry Work Manager and safety considerations for the selection of forestry contractors.
