Forestry and Sustainable Living Section

Organised by Teagasc’s Forestry Development Department, more than twenty organisations and companies will showcase many facets of Ireland’s rapidly developing farm forestry and renewable energy sectors.

As the private forest industry continues to develop, it contributes more and more to our rural economy while providing real solutions to our climate change challenges. The opportunities provided by a farm forest enterprise to enhance family farm income particularly through new afforestation, timber sales and wood energy will be highlighted at the Tullamore Show. There will be a big emphasis on promoting the revised Forestry Programme 2014 – 2020 this year.

Farmers and other landowners who are considering forestry including creating an agroforestry plot or a native woodland; or are at the thinning stage will find comprehensive practical and financial advice available from Teagasc, forestry companies and other organisations. Now is the time to get all the information on planting, thinning and harvesting as timber prices are at historically high prices.

If you have questions regarding renewable energy then do visit the Forestry and Sustainable Living section: solar panels, various boiler systems and efficient firewood stoves will be on display.

You will also be able to meet key players from the forestry sector. This is an opportunity not to be missed to avail of free, comprehensive and up-to-date information on forestry and wood energy – our growing sustainable natural resource.

See you all on Sunday 14 August!
