Do I need to register to apply for a course?

Yes. If you do not already have an account then you will need to create an account using the ‘New Account’ button.

Do I need to provide an email account?

Yes. All updates regarding your application will be communicated to you via email.

What do I do if I forget my sign in detail

You can use I forgot my sign in details on the main application page. You will need to enter your username (email). An email will be sent to you with reset instructions. You will need to provide the answer to the security question you answered when you set up the account.


How do I apply for a course?

  • Go to Teagasc.ie
  • Select course you wish to apply.
  • Click on Application and this will direct you to the online application form
  • Register (Create Account) if it is your first time, otherwise Sign in.
  • Complete application details as required.
  • Click Submit to complete and submit your application form.

How do I upload documents?

You will need to save an electronic copy of your documents either by scanning a copy or taking a photo with your phone. You will need to select these documents then when you are uploading.

Can I Save an Exit my application?

Yes. You can save and exit any stage of the application process. You can log back into the portal to complete your application at any time.

How can I log back in and complete my application?

Click on the Teagasc Student Portal. You will need to enter your username and password to proceed. Once signed in, you will see a list of applications and relevant status. Click on the course to complete. If the application was successfully submitted, it will have a ‘Submitted’ status assigned.

What is my application number?

You application number is visible once you have submitted your application. It is also contained in the email sent to you after submitting the application.

How do I submit an application?

You must click on the submit button. Please review your application to ensure that it is filled correctly before submitting it.

How do I know that I have submitted my application successfully?

Once you submit your application online, you will be given an application number online. You will also receive an email with your application details and informing you that it was submitted successfully.

Can I submit a paper application form?

No. Applications can only be made online using the Teagasc application service.

Can I view my application after I have submitted it?

Yes. You can log onto the student portal at any stage. This will show you your application status and any updates from the college. Teagasc Student Portal


Who do I contact if I have a query about the application?

Contact the centre to which you applied.

When do courses open and close for applications

Details of start dates for applications are published on the education pages. Click on the relevant centre for further details.

Do I have to create a new account every time I want to apply for a course?

No – just click on the course application link you wish to apply to and sign in using your username and password.

Where can I find my applicant ID and application numbers?

These numbers are listed in your Teagasc Student Portal account and are unique to you. Simply sign into the student portal and click on your application to view these details.

Can I change the course or centre I selected in my submitted application?

It is not possible to change to a different course or centre after the application has been submitted. If you have applied to the wrong course, or if you wish to change centre you can apply to the course/centre of your choice by selecting the correct course / centre on the Teagasc website www.teagasc.ie/education.

Can I apply to more than one centre?

Yes you can apply to more than one centre. Simply select the relevant course at the centre you wish to apply to, sign into the portal using your sign details, complete and submit the application. The Teagasc Student portal will have retained your personal information so this will be already pre-populated for you.

Can I edit my application after I have submitted it

No it is not possible to edit your application once it has been submitted. If there is additional information you wish to include you can contact the relevant college directly.

Can I withdraw my application after it is submitted?

It is not possible to withdraw your application after it has been submitted. If you wish to withdraw your application, please contact the centre to which you have applied, quoting your application reference number and ID number.

Is there an application fee required for each application?

No there are no application fees charged.

When do I pay course fees?

Course fees are due when you register for the course.

How do I Pay course fees?

Course fees can be paid by credit or debit card. Details of who to contact will be on the email offering a place on the course. Cheques or postal orders are acceptable.

Is a deposit payable for my course?

Some courses require a course deposit to secure a place. Other courses require the course fee to be paid. These details will be included in the email offering a place on the course.

How do I send in supporting documentation?

The required supporting documentation will be listed in the document upload part of the form. It will also be listed in the course information on the Teagasc public website. Documents need to be in soft copy format. You can upload a scanned image or photo of the document. The size limit is 2MB.

Can I receive a refund if I pay a deposit or course fee?

Teagasc has a payments and refund policy. Students who accept an offer of a place also accept the terms and workings of this policy. Please contact the relevant centre directly to request a refund.

What can I do if my application is un-successful?

You should contact the centre to which you applied to request feedback on your application.
