Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Drystock Management
Graduates of the Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture can apply for the Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Drystock Herd Management. This is a 1 year full time course offered at Kildalton College starting at the end of August and finishing in May the following year. It consists of 16 weeks course work at Kildalton College and 16 weeks practical learning period with a Teagasc registered host Drystock farm. The aim of this course is to equip the graduate with knowledge, skills and capabilities for a role as a herd-flock manager or farm technician. Graduates of this option may also seeks employment opportunities in the broader agri-food sector.
Students who successfully complete the Level 6 of this course meet the training requirements for Stamp Duty Exemption and DAFM Schemes.
Employment Prospects
On completion of this course students may return to their own drystock enterprise or work as a farm manager on a commercial farm. Opportunities also exist in the agri business sector, food processing companies and with the agri services/supply sector.
Progression
Graduates of this course with a Merit/Distinction award are eligible to apply to transfer into year 2 of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at SETU.
