Careers in Equine

The aim of completing a QQI Level 5 & Level 6 course in Horsemanship/Equitation or Stud Management (Horse Breeding) at Kildalton College is to equip the learner with the knowledge and skills for employment opportunities in the equine industry.

Careers in Ireland and Abroad

  • Careers in the sport horse industry include yard manager, competition rider, groom, breaking and training, coach, sales prep and self-employed ventures such as equine tourism.
  • Stud management career opportunities include stud hand, foreman/head person, barn manager, stud farm manager, foaling manager, bloodstock agent, stallion handler, breaking & training and sales prep. There are a number of career opportunities in supporting or service provider roles.
  • There are good employment opportunities in the industry in Ireland and internationally, including work on stud farms, training yards and equestrian centres. Former students have found employment in the UK, USA, Japan and Australia.
