Equine Courses

Teagasc Kildalton College full-time Equine education and training caters for two distinct programmes:

Horsemanship Programme

Stud Management Programme

Both programmes cater for the sport horse and thoroughbred industries.  The duration of each of these is 2 years full-time at Kildalton College and both programmes are validated by QQI and lead to a Level 5 Certificate (Year 1) and Level 6 (Year 2) in Horsemanship/Equitation or Stud Management.

There is no minimum educational entry requirement to Kildalton College. Applicants must be 17 years old or over on 1st January following entry to Year 1 and must undergo an interview and practical riding assessment before as part of the application process. Students with a Level 5 equivalent qualification may apply for entry to Level 6 rogramme. This process also includes an interview and riding assessment.

Once students have completed this Level 5 award they may apply to a Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Horsemanship (Equitation) or Stud Management.
